EDCHPP launches First Annual "Good House KEEPING Awards"

Taking care of an older house is challenging but rewarding. To celebrate our wealth of solid older buildings and the owners who take care of them with an eye to the future, the newly formed Eastern Delaware County Historic Preservation Partnership is launching its first annual Good house KEEPING awards. "Our collective history does not stop at our municipal borders," said John Haigis, spokesman for the Partnership."Our first ring suburbs are blessed with a wealth of older buildings and owners who take care of them with sensitivity, imagination and love."

Any house built before 1918 is eligible. "Not every house can or should be on the National Register,"Haigis said, "but every house can be loved and celebrated for its strength, its material, and its beauty."

Nomination forms are attached and also available from the web site DarbyHistory.com or at local libraries and must be received by October 1. Winners will be announced at OcTrolleyFest on October 13.

The Eastern Delaware County Historic Preservation Partnership (EDCHPP) is a committee of the 501(c)(3) Friends of the Blue Bell and is dedicated to "Improving Our Local Communities Through Cooperation, Historic Preservation, and Advocacy"
