Bethel Township would like to buy Dr. Shaffer's property - over 20 acres and make it into a park. They want to keep the historic structures on site which include a 1680's log house and a 1721 Farm house and barn. The township has asked us for our ideas on what to do with the property- how to maintain and to get funds for that maintenance. What is your relationship with your municipality? What does your township take care and what do you as a historical society take care of? What are your strengths and weaknesses? What are some creative ideas that you have done to raise funds. Who is in charge of your site - how do you delegate responsibilities for the care and upkeep of your site? Thanks in advance! Beth McCarrick - vice chair Bethel Township Preservation Society

Please don't build any more houses in this area. I hope they just leave it as it is. With traffic and all the houses it's getting more and more like a city around the Chichester area.
